Sunday Musing: What’s OK For A Car Review?

Transport Evolved: Take 2

Since we’ve been busy with CES for the last few weeks, we’ve been thinking a little more than normal about the process of automakers revealing new vehicles.

Sometimes, we’re treated to little more than a few photos (or renders), and other times a fully-functional pre-production prototype is driven (yes, driven) onto stage.

After reveal, order books can open immediately, and customers can look forward to getting their vehicle within a few months. Other times it can be years (or longer).

So we’re curious: what’s okay for an automotive reveal? When do you take the automaker seriously? Why do you consider one company not serious when a company with little more to show might be viewed more seriously?
