2025 Palisade XRT | Finally An “Off-Road” Trim That’s More Than Looks

From Alex on Autos.

Looking for a 3-row SUV with a bit of extra rough-road capability? Well normally I’d recommend a Grand Cherokee L, or if you don’t need quite that much off-road tech, the Pilot Trailsport, but there’s a new game in town with a twist. For the new Palisade XRT, Hyundai decided to do more than just give it some tow hooks and a new bumper, they actually swapped in an e-LSD in the back. OK, OK, so this isn’t a "locker", but it’s fairly close as the electronic control can actually lock the output shafts of the rear differential when needed. This puts this in direct competition with Honda’s SH-AWD system in terms of rear power delivery and ahead of just about everything save that Grand Cherokee. Subaru? I’ve always wondered why Subie is so resistant to putting a limited slip in the back of anything.
