You buy a Cummins engine and the RAM truck tags along for the ride, right? That’s been the saying in RAM circles for decades, and it’s what helped RAM finally compete with Ford and GM back in 1989. By the 2020s, however RAM had fallen behind in one key area: gears. Ye olde 6-speeds were just too far behind the modern transmissions GM and Ford were using in their HD trucks, but that’s finally been fixed for 2025. (The rest of the truck? Tweaked, not fixed.)
