New Model Y Prod Starts! Caisson & Batch Plant Construction! 24 Jan 2025 Giga Texas Update (08:45AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, Cyber Truck the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot production happens in 2025!

Better day to fly with blue skies, light winds and temperatures in the 40s F (~6 to 7 C) … big day with the start of refreshed Model Y production at Giga Texas, at least small test numbers anyway. These are being built on the same (upgraded) Model Y production line at the same time as the legacy Model Y’s, at least for a while.

A few highlights to look for in the images and video today:

The sink caisson construction continues on both sides of the south bridge area as well as a new clearing on the south side of the Colorado River. These are part of a wastewater intercept system designed, per permit to allow for future construction and infrastructure additions on the west side of the highway. This will also connect north along the berm next to the main factory up to another caisson likely near the flag poles.

Tesla employees were working to add stop signs and traffic control measures at the Cybertunnel west exit. Tesla is aware of this need to prevent thru traffic conflicts with exiting Cybertrucks from the tunnel.
The newly paved lot south of the End-of-Line (EOL) facility has been marked with parking and handicapped areas and is now in use as employee parking.

This cleared up the full length of the east side of the EOL for new lane markings (numbered 1 thru 4) and arrows showing the direction of traffic flow. It appears the new overall flow will be new cars arrive along the roadway on the east side of the EOL (which extends south to River Road and the Cybertunnel) and entered into the facility on the north. Vehicles exit the facility on the south end at the superchargers, then flow through the test track on the west side of EOL, then to the outbound lot. There may be some additional iterations, but so far, that appears to be the plan.

On the south extension, crews were busy applying white stain to the west side exterior concrete panels and we see plastic sheeting on the windows to prevent stain from dripping onto the panes. More glass has been delivered and stored on the west side while on the south end, one of the large panes of glass has shattered, possibly due to temperature issues (it was very cold) as there does not appear to be a impact point, rather the entire pane seemed uniformly shattered. barricades were placed on the ground around where this panel is located.

There is a new gray tent-like structure on the east side supercharger station at the old temporary testing lot. This is backed right up to a supercharger and a cable appears to extend into the tent. Front and real enclosures prevent any visibility into the tent and some viewers believe this may be an inductive charger for the Cybercabs, but others think it might be for a new model not yet introduced. What do you think?

On the far north, the old temporary batch plant is getting an extensive concrete apron poured and a large catch basin constructed. Possibly related to this, the old Martin Marietta batch plan berms continue to be removed, widening the area next to the west side of the DIE shop and reducing the overall plant size. It is possible these two things are related as the old batch plant may finally be decommissioned.

Work on the graded area south of the electrical switchyard shows the screw-type piers have been installed, pier caps are mostly installed, and steel beams being assembled onto of the piers.

Finally, I noted many Cybercabs driving around on test loops all over the greater Giga Texas site, but this time, none of them had the familiar trailing cars collecting data.
