From Alex on Autos.
Volvo’s smallest, swiftest, and least expensive EV is big on promise, and big on controversy. It also happens to be one of the best-selling EVs in Europe at the moment and that’s not by accident. The EX30 isn’t just good looking, it makes the most of a small footprint, it’s easy to park, scoots to 60 in an insane (for a Volvo) 3.3 seconds, and it’s supposed to start at $36,000 in the USA. There’s just one little problem. It’s built in China at the moment. That means big tariffs have suddenly gotten in the way of selling the EX30 in real volume in America. Volvo’s solution is to move production to Belgium to hopefully sidestep the tariff, but does that mean prices will go up? Probably. For now however the EX30 might just be one of the best performance values in America.
