Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
It was a foggy yet beautiful sunrise kind of morning, with large billowing clouds of vapors rising up from all over the main factory & nearby power plant, some of which drooped back down and engulfed part of the factory, making for an eerie, yet beautiful scene around the site. Soon the sun broke through, revealing a lot of big progress on the north and far north of the site, transformer movement on the west side of the highway and much more!

In the video introduction, I reviewed some of the biggest updates from the Ride the Lightning podcast interview with Tesla’s VP of Engineering, Lars Moravy. In this interview, we learned about the Model S & X refresh and/or rebuild coming later this year, some intimation about the new lower cost car which will be produced here at Giga Texas (and likely other factories) in the next few months, sharing the production line with the Model Y, and many new details about the Cybercab, including its exterior plastic skin.
Here are some additional details, "The Cybercab will use Polyurethane paint injection into its exterior plastic panels instead of paint, eliminating a complex, expensive & time-consuming process, making the Cybercab cheaper & easier to build & likely repair. This is a specialized manufacturing process often used to create durable, high-quality finishes on plastic components, such as automotive parts, consumer electronics, or industrial equipment. The process integrates painting directly into the molding stage, ensuring a seamless and robust finish."
A few highlights to look for in the images and video today:
There was more extensive Cybercab testing on the roads around the main factory. In fact, I saw somewhere between 4 and 5 separate Cybercabs driving around, but it might have even more, as at least one was always in my view as I flew around the site.
The Central Campus construction project on the north end was really making progress with the grade work, concentrating mostly on the northwest corner where hills were being flattened, ponds being filled and gradually leveling out the grade in this once very rugged terrain section. There were utility trucks and crews near the power poles and wires that are left over from the old concrete batch plant, and it seems they were getting ready to begin removing these. More fill dirt was being transported much farther north to the large rectangular clearing, where the dirt was being piled up for future use.
The west outbound lot was almost completely empty and too of the older generation Model Y"s were gone. There were some Cybertrucks parked in the outbound lot, and I noticed most had deep black roof glass now. There was one Cybertruck with the older silver hued glass roof parked next to another newer one with the black root, and it was obvious the difference. It would appear this is a running change as all the rest of the Cybertrucks had the newer black roof.
A lot more to see in the images and video today, including several sections where I stopped the video to show the same location as it appeared 1 year ago to help viewers see and appreciate the changes.
As a final reminder, I will not be flying at Giga Texas on Wednesday (26 February) or Friday (28 February) as I’ll be headed to Starbase for Starship Flight 8. I’ll also be trying to get a new drone flight over the Tesla Lithium Plant near Corpus Christi while I drive to Starbase.
