Rollover Crash Test, Electrical Ground Grid, Cortex 2 Walls! 20 June 2025 Giga Texas Update(07:45AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

A gorgeous morning to fly around Giga Texas where we see a lot of interesting developments and new details around the site. My drone flight took place while big news is being made nearby in Austin!

Another major milestone day for Tesla with early access invitations going out for the start of Robotaxi service, beginning inn a geofenced section of Austin before expanding once more experience is gained. The invites allow people to bring along a passenger (18 years of age or more) and the service will run from 6:00 AM to midnight, every day starting on Sunday.

Not only is this a major milestone for autonomy, but this also opens a completely new product/service for Tesla which is expected to spread from Austin to the rest of the country over the next few years and sets the stage for the Cybercab to join into the Robotaxi fleet later this year and into 2026.

I was part of the first early access invitees, and I am looking forward to being able to show you how the service works, what it is like and provide my impressions. Also, I hope to be bringing along people so they can try it out as well. All this begins on Sunday!

Some things to look for in the images and video today include:

More solar panels are being delivered to the roof, while I found a large stockpile (along with UNIRAC mounts, hold down bricks, inverter, conduit and cabling) being stored. We can expect to see much of this moved onto the main factory roof soon to continue extending the number of installed solar panels.

The Cortex 2 facility continues to gain more walls, steel studs for walls, receiving door frames and texture material on the wall panels. It appears the priority for now is to enclose as much of the facility as possible before working on the inside ground for trenching, utilities installation, rebar and then concrete. Other than two openings on the roof at the north end, the roof is already fully covered with decking, and once the parapet walls are completed, we should see insulation and weatherproof membranes added.

Big news at the crash testing facility, where preparations are well underway to conduct rollover testing. We see a dirt section on top of plastic sheeting where the crash will occur, and we can see the cabling that is connected to a flying floor which will pull the vehicle towards the dirt section at speed and then stop to allow the rollover to take place. Nearby, we see Tesla employees working with what looks like cases of batteries and a laptop computer.

Changes to the inventory of transformers on the far west side continues, with trucks lined up to possibly pick up more for transport off site. In addition, I see other deliveries taking place around where the large white tent has been erected. Farther north, the inventory of transformers seems stable after having many picked up and transported off site last week.
