Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Today was a busy day at the factory, with production of both the Cybertruck and Model Y’s ramping back up after last week’s production pause! The outbound lot was starting to fill back up again, mostly on the north end, but also some on the southeastern side. Construction was also back to full speed after all the rains and mud have dried up.
We also get to see a new vehicle under cover preparing to enter the north end of the crash testing facility, while a Model Y was observed on the south end in the process of testing. Many other vehicles that have been tested were stored along the west perimeter fence. The nearby wade pit was full of water today, probably from the recent rains.

In the video introduction, I discuss the new. Lower cost vehicle and use some audio recordings of Lars Moravy at the 1st quarter financial results meeting discussing this new vehicle and how the production process will work. I also mention this vehicle was supposed to have started production in the 1st half of 2025, but we haven’t heard anything about this since, and I do not (yet) see signs of this car around the factory despite the fact we are now well into the 3rd quarter.
There are some interesting theories as to why this is the case, and these build on the idea the new “Big Beautiful Bill” that was signed into law has changed to landscape sufficiently with the rapid phasing out of the EV rebates that Tesla has changed their initial plan somewhat. I let Alexandra Merz (aka @Teslaboomermama) talk about how this theory works and why Tesla may be prioritizing the existing Model Y and Model 3 for the 3rd quarter wo maximize sales while the $7,500 EV rebate is still in effect and delaying the new, lower cost vehicle until the 4th quarter. Although this is to some degree informed speculation, it does make sense.
I’ll continue watching what is happening on the ground at Giga Texas and hopefully finding additional information, perhaps at the 23 July 2nd Quarter Financial Results meeting so we know how valid this theory truly is. My intent presenting this information is to help give the viewers some idea what we may expect over the next 3 month with regards to the new vehicle.
