Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Gorgeous day to fly and get caught back up after about a week away in California for me. While away, I was able to tour the Fremont factory, met with Hrushikesh Sagar, the Tesla VP of Gigafactory Operations at the Fremont factory (the counterpart to Jason Shawhan at Giga Texas), and drive on the test track at Plaid speed with one of Tesla’s test drivers!
Although I did get to tour inside the factory, I was unable to take video or images, so I don’t have a lot to show from inside the factory and on the production lines, but I do have video and images from the track, the sales and welcome center and in front of the main factory. Check for links in the sources section below!

In the video introduction, in addition to showing a small portion of a stand-alone YouTube video with images and video I put together of my Fremont tour, I also show some clips from another stand-alone YouTube video of my time at the X Takeover event over the weekend. This was held at San Mateo (near San Francisco) and was put on by the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley. Along with many displays, vendors, exhibits and many Tesla fans, we also had a great display from Tesla, including the Cybercab, Optimus Robot and the Semi.
Also in attendance, were many of the key Tesla leadership personnel, and I got to meet Wes (the Chief Engineer for the Cybertruck program) and Lars Moravy, the VP of Engineering for the company … both of whom I have a lot of respect for and was glad to get to talk with at the event! Many other interesting and well-known personalities, such as Sandy Munro, Felix Schlan (WAI), Herbert Ong, Alexandra Mers, and many more were in attendance, and I got a chance to talk with most of them. What a great event and it was capped off with a Elon Live stream with him answering a lot of interesting questions across all of his various companies.
For today, we see many interesting deliveries around the site, including more production equipment arriving on the southwest staging area, and most of these items appear to be robotic assemblers and other production. Line equipment, most likely related to the Cybercab production lines. One of the large white tent-like structures were removed from this location, which is an interesting change.
Near the End-of-Line facility, we see a new structure which may be a wash rack next to where we saw recent trench work and underground system installation, possibly to catch and reclaim water from the wash rack.
Production of both Cybertruck and Model Ys were evident today, with many Model Ys autonomously driving out of the factory at the rate of about 1 per 40 seconds, while Cybertrucks were exiting through the Cybertunnel and proceeding autonomously to the four queue lanes.
The underground concrete vault for the expanded switchyard has had all walls poured in concrete now, while crews were preparing to add rebar and forms for the roof. Other crews were installing white drainage pipes and bringing in gravel that will likely help prevent these pipes from floating up in their installed trenches.
Cortex 2 has about 95% of the wall panels installed around the entire exterior of the facility, while more roofing materials have been delivered for crews installing the final roofing. A large new trash chute was installed on the east side to allow for scrap packaging to be dropped into awaiting bins for recycling.
