Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Another great day to fly at Giga Texas with nice, full lighting, calm winds, blue skies & lots of interesting details to see! I also recently gave 14 more Robotaxi rides to an international audience of people who came in from Germany (8 people), Sweden (2 people) and San Francisco (1 person).
We got a chance to test out the service & some new details about pricing, with the dynamic charge schedule Tesla just transitioned to along with more Robotaxi app updates. Finally, we talk about the brand-new Robotaxi service around the San Francisco area.

During my 14 rides, I was able to capture data that shows the current dynamic pricing (in the Austin area) follows the formula of $1.00 flat rate plus (#miles X $1.00) and this reworks out to be $1.19 per mile. I also calculated this works out to be about $0.32 per minute of. robotaxi travel time (from departure to arrival).
For today’s Giga Texas flight, we see new trenching, trench box installation & preparation for pipe installation south & under River Road. This is related to the on-going trenching & pipe installation that extends the entire length of the west berm along the main factory.
Work on the southeast corner of the factory installing steel studs, yellow wall panels & prep to finish off this part of the factory continues. Along the east side of the factory, we see more production equipment and robotic assemblers have been set out for lifting up into the 2nd, and 3rd floors (added via mezzanines) and installation into the added production capacity of the factory.
On the far southwest staging yards, we see even more production equipment, racking systems, modular stations and robotic assemblers have been delivered. This is where they are temporarily storing the production equipment that is then moved to the east side of the factory for movement inside and assembly.
At the electrical switchyard, we see more work on the cables at the Megapack #2, trenching connecting the original underground concrete vault at the south end of the switchyard to the new underground vault under construction for the expansion. The new vault has had all walls poured with concrete, and now forms are being places and rebar fashioned to construct the roof, which will then be poured with concrete.
The graded area for the switchyard expansion appears to have had the grounding grid installed and then trenched covered over. In addition, a lighter colored covering soil material is being spread on the surface which usually indicates formal construction of the infrastructure will begin soon.
The Cortex 2.0 facility now has about 99% of all external wall panels installed, along with seam sealer, texture coatings & cast in lines to make it appear to be concrete panels matching the construction methodology of the main factory and white stain is being applied for the final appearance.
Roof material installation continues, moving from the south towards the north. I took advantage of the lighting to see inside where we see ground slab & a smaller concrete wall.
At the Melt Center (part of the casting machine section), we see parts for a second furnace loader system have arrived & the start of set up for this new large piece of equipment. This will further the recycling capabilities & casting alloy production in this facility!
