In my discussion of GM’s LMR announcement, I completely glossed over Ford’s earlier LMR announcement. I outline my thoughts in this video. I’ve seen some people reporting that these two battery chemistries are similar if not the same, but based on the comments and statements made by both Ford and GM, I am assuming that these two chemistries are fundamentally different. Based on what I’ve seen, Ford’s LMR batteries are likely LFMP (iron battery) while GM’s LMR batteries are likely MNC (nickel battery).
