In this video, I put my mother-in-law in the driver’s seat of our 2025 Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD and let her experience Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) for the first time — at night, in traffic, with cloverleaf interchanges, and a parking lot at the end.

She’s a frequent road tripper up and down the East Coast (Maine ↔ Florida), but she’s never driven a Tesla or any EV before. We walk through:
• Basic Tesla controls & one-pedal driving
• Letting FSD (in “Sloth” profile) handle city streets, interstate ramps, and double cloverleafs
• How FSD feels for someone who doesn’t like driving at night
• Tesla’s matrix headlights & why they help with night driving confidence
• How Tesla route planning works for a Portland, Maine road trip (fastest vs. fewer stops vs. best amenities)
• Dog Mode and using the cabin camera to keep an eye on pets
• Whether FSD really reduces driver fatigue on long trips

We also turn on Santa Mode / reindeer visualization for a bit of holiday chaos, and even ask Grok in the car a very important HomeGoods question.

If you’re an older driver, a nervous passenger, or you’re thinking about getting a Tesla for long road trips, this is a great real-world look at what FSD feels like for someone who’s cautious but curious.
