Dozens of Deliveries, Cortex 2 Roof & Crash Test Recycling. 21 July 2025 Giga Texas Update (07:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

A comfortable morning to fly around Giga Texas today, with some clouds playing hide and seek with the sun and a light to moderate wind from the southeast across the site today. Despite the early Monday morning time of my flight, there was a lot of notable activity!

In the video introduction, I detail my schedule changes this week and how this will affect my Drone coverage of the factory until about mid next week. I am giving more Robotaxi rides to international visitors along with being invited to tour Giga Texas on Tuesday as part of the 5th year anniversary of the factory … this is a special honor I am excited about!

Then, I will be publishing a special 5-year anniversary and look back video on Wednesday, documenting 5 years of progress, changes, setbacks, triumphs crazy weather, and much more and the remarkable work through it all to build this world-class factory on the site of an old and abandoned sand and gravel mine.

Also on Wednesday, Tesla will host the 2nd quarter financial results meeting, and I know there are a lot of topics people are interested in hearing about at that meeting. We may not get all the answers we would like, but this is an opportunity to get more than we have had in a while. It feels even more important now because of many new products and services just being rolled out or on the cusp of making their debut.

On Thursday, I will fly out to San Francisco, California where I’ll get the opportunity to tour the Fremont factory and then participate in the X Takeover event over the weekend. Because of all of this, today is my last drone flight until mid-next week.

For today’s flight, some interesting observations to point out and you can look for in the video!

As part of the 5th year anniversary celebration, I give a few sneak peaks at how the site looked just prior to any construction beginning, highlighting three landmarks that remain today. I compare the original images to the present day to help show just how dramatic the changes have been! Look for these three comparisons in the main video!

Nearby this location, the two huge stamping machine parts that were being prepared for transport to Giga Nevada for Semi production have now departed and are on the way out west.

There were dozens of semi-trucks that were arriving all over the west staging locations today, most of which contained large and complex production equipment. Some of these were in crates marked with the Mino Automation company logos.

At Megapack #2, final cable connections at the N control cabinet are being made, while nearby crews are almost ready for the 2nd big concrete pour for the new switchyard underground vault.

Roofing insulation & weatherproof membrane installation at the new Cortex 2 facility was proceeding quickly, with many workers installing the insulation in assembly-line fashion. In addition, the exterior wall work continues quickly, now with the walls extending about 60% around the structure.

Finally, there was some activity inside and outside the crash testing facility today, with the crash wall moved back into the center position over the camera pit and several vehicles (Model Y. Cybertruck, Model S and a Model X) being prepped for recycling following their completed testing.

A lot more to see on this day before the official 5th year anniversary of the announcement and start of construction for Giga Texas. This also will mark my 5th year of covering the construction of the factory, which is mind-blowing for me to think about.

It is with the support of my viewers, Subscribers and Patreons that have helped me continue to make the trip up three times a week to fly the drone, capture images and video and then share to a worldwide audience. I also must say thank you to Tesla for allowing me to continue to document the construction of this factory and for their trust in letting me do so.
