Early Inside Views, Model Y Autonomous Drive & Megapack #2! 14 April 2025 Giga Texas Update(06:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, Cyber Truck the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot production happens in 2025!

For today I began flying well before the sun came up and took advantage of the perfect conditions to view a well-lit Giga Texas, the support areas, heavy traffic on the highway and of course, close in views inside the full length of the factory on the west side.

These views give us a more detailed sense of the work underway inside the ever changing and expanding production areas of this enormous factory and hints at upgrades and changes related to the upcoming Cybercab production lines!

A few special parts of this video today as well, including:

In the video introduction I provide you a quick view into the activities this weekend with the Cybertruck Rodeo, the largest gathering of Cybertrucks in the word (outside of Giga Texas, of course)! This event was hosted by the Austin Tesla Club, Tesla, the Dove Nest Motorsports Club & track just north of Austin, and several sponsors.

People and their Cybertrucks came in from all over the country to enjoy the event, the displays, Giga Texas factory tour ticket raffle, and of course, drive their Cybertrucks on the dedicated 3.1-mile off-road track! Several Cybertrucks got quite airborne during the track drives this weekend, and everyone I talked with had an absolutely great time! Definitely, Cybertrucks bring us together

Another special part of the video today has to do with a brand-new video Tesla released showing the new Model Y’s autonomously exiting the factory and driving an almost 2-mile route through traffic to reach the west end-of-line facility for final processing and then shipping. I use the opportunity to position my drone at the exit point to giver context of where this autonomous journey begins, then I provide commentary along the way, pointing out major landmarks and features of Giga Texas as the Model Y drives by itself!

Once the journey ends on the west side in the staging lanes, I resume my drone flight from that location to further help put into context where all this autonomous driving takes place. I think you’ll agree this is very impressive!

On the southeast side of the building south extension, crews were installing some unusual trim pieces around where the final glass panels are to be installed. This is over an area where I expect a drive through lane will be that allows vehicles and delivery trucks to enter the south extension, drop off materials or parts, then continue through the building, past the inside Boring Tunnel entrance and then exit on the west side. These trim pieces are unlike any others used on the main factory, so I’m curious what these will look like once completed.

The second Megapack installation now has all the Megapack units placed onto their mounting beams, and this work was completed over the weekend. Now, crews need to do all the wiring and connections between the Megapack units and the transformers and then install the cabling to connect this system to the electrical switchyard. I estimate several more months of work remain before this Megapack is fully operational.

Work on the new Central Campus Support Facility, aka. Cortex 2.0 on the north end between the electrical switchyard expansion area (which itself is making big progress with the grade work) continues to move along quickly, particularly in the south end of the new facility. Footings, Perimeter Grade Beam rebar and forms, steel deliveries of beams and columns and more is well underway.

Much more to see in the images and talk about in the video today! I hope you enjoy my addition of the Tesla Model Y autonomous drive into the video today, with the added commentary.
