Equinox Day, Delivery Prep & Switchyard Expands! 22 Sep 2025 Giga Texas Construction Update(07:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Happy 1st day of Fall (northern hemisphere) as today is the Autumnal Equinox! Today is also the start of the last full week in the 3rd quarter, and the final push is on to try and maximize production and deliveries, including the potential for a big Direct Customer Delivery event here by the weekend!

In the video introduction, I discuss the number of Cybertrucks present at the west End-of-Line facility today and in the outbound lot, which may be related to the opening of more markets around the world for Cybertruck sales. I also noticed many new Model Y’s and a few Cybertrucks on the east side at the old testing and calibration lot, the first time I’ve seen this happen in many months!

I speculate that the reasons for this may be a rumored big Direct Delivery Event that seems to be in the planning staged. I was told by some Tesla employees that they would like to be able to have a customer delivery event here at Giga Texas before the end of the 3rd quarter, and there are indications this is in fact about to happen. At the west side of the EOL facility, many new vehicles were being lined up in the delivery parking spaces.

I also discuss the end of the quarter which will also be the end of the $7,500 federal EV rebate, with a few late changes to the program that are important to know if you are planning pn making a purchase. If you pay cash of finance the purchase, you can now place the order and take delivery after 30 September, as long as the program remains funded.

However, if you are leasing, you must still take possession before the end of 30 September. Details may continue to change, so make sure you log onto the Tesla website, but more importantly the time to act is now. Good luck!

A few other highlights from today:

Progress across many construction sites today, including the Switchyard expansion where the underground vault backfilling with dirt and gravel is almost completed, footing construction continues, working from south to north, rebar cage assembly is picking up the pace to stay ahead of the auger pile drilling & some footings have already been poured with concrete.

Over at the Cortex 2 facility, crews were once again very busy adding more underlayment, insulation and weatherproof membranes on the roof, exterior wall finishing surfacing and stain nearly completed and some waterproofing was being applied to the perimeter grade beam. I also noted more sections of the interior ground slab have been poured, with more yellow moisture barrier being laid out to further extend the concrete work inside.

Near the Cortex 2 facility, we see concrete pipe installation that will form part of the water management system, terminating in the large water detention pond. Finally, I noticed the first interior equipment deliveries, occurring on the southeast part of the facility. These are Schneider Electric “DSquare” electrical cabinets, at least from what I could determine from the labels on the packaging.
