This week in Long Beach, California, Ford opened a new Electric Vehicle Development Center to house their secret EV skunkworks team. Jim Farley has said the skunkworks team has been operating for the past couple of years to design the next generation of Ford electric vehicles that will compete against the best EVs in the world, including Chinese EVs.
This new center is in 2 buildings near the Long Beach Airport and will house several hundred Ford employees — some of which came from companies like Rivian, Lucid, Tesla, Apple, Google, and other tech leaders.
Next week on August 11 in Kentucky, Jim Farley will be announcing more details on their plans to radically transform Ford in what he calls a "Model T moment" for the company.
In this video, we talk about the skunkworks facility and speculate what could be announced next week.
