New Front Castings, Melt Center Operational & Solar Roof Demo! 2 May 2025 Giga Texas Update(07:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, Cyber Truck the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot production happens in 2025!

A great morning to fly with a nice sunrise and for a while, clear skies, but the clouds began to roll back in ahead of thunderstorms forecast for the afternoon. It was not a production day (as has been the cast for almost a year), so I took the opportunity to fly around the far north and south to get updates on parts of the site I don’t normally cover.

In the video introduction, I provide additional information about the north construction site and new facility, including the grid layout, sizes, floor space and dimensions, and then compare this with the original site plan and permits that called for three smaller facilities. I also discuss the excess graded area now and speculate we may see additional construction beyond just the new facility and the electrical switchyard expansion.

A few other highlights to look for today include:

At the east side of the casting machine section, we see several interesting developments. First, it appears front Cybercab castings along with rear castings are now present. Comparing the size of the front casting with the pallets they sit on (the most common standard pallet size in North America is 48 inches by 40 inches).

Also, on the east side of casting awe see the Melt plant is operational and recycling both scrap castings and scrap aluminum wheels! We also see the furnace loading bin filled with metal, which is a great indication that this system is now operational … a big boost in efficiency as Tesla does not have to send off scrap aluminum for recycling and instead can do this in-house and immediately use the scrap for new castings!

The north side construction project is moving quickly with another two grid rows of steel assembled not eh new facility, roof decking installed (moving south to north), more footing construction on the north end as well as perimeter grade beam work, and a lot more steel delivery.

On the northwest side of the central highway near Tesla Road, we see resumed earthwork to grade out this area for future construction. I’ve been told this is for a new welcome center, but still do not have permits that specify this, so will continue to research and provide documentation once I have it. In the meantime, the grade work here continues, fill dirt is arriving and the overall scope of the new structure is beginning to take shape. Interestingly, stakes are
