Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Another great day to fly and one with a lot to see around the site including preparations for a huge customer direct delivery event starting today and running through 30 September.
The small track set up for kid-sized Cybertrucks at the entrance, four new tents, cars set up in the delivery lot & so many new cars they are parking many of them on the east side old testing lot … the first time I’ve seen it full this year!

In the video introduction, I talk about Cortex 2, the original plans, how they have changed and 5 key new permits that give us added context and insights into what is coming as far as construction and fitting out of the facility.
Two of these permits show construction is coming for a chiller plant for the building, something many viewers have been asking about! We also get insights into the purpose of the facility with the three other permits that cover fire suppression systems and some recent equipment deliveries from Sinclair Electric Square D!
A few other highlights from today include:
A lot of work at the electrical switchyard today, with more footings being constructed and more rebar cages, both cylindrical for the piles and square for larger footings being assembled nearby by crews. A new crane was being set up this morning, most likely ahead of the expected arrival of two large transformers as well as for assembling many of the steel parts of the switchyard expansion.
Crews were also working on the underground vault area with the two control trailers on top, and there were small trenches being dug in the graded expansion area.
Cortex 2 progress today was mostly on the west side where concrete pipes were being installed and covered in trenches and the perimeter grade beam had all of the waterproofing applied ahead of covering it up with the higher graded area. I did note a lot of internal progress with ground slab pours, working from the south and now about 1/3 of the interior slab completed.
There were no crews on the roof today, so at the time of my flight, there was no new progress to show, although more materials have been placed on the roof for future installation.
At the melt plant, the second furnace loading machine was being assembled today, pretty much identical to the existing one just a few bays to the south. This will speed aluminum recycling and furnace loading operations. I did notice most of the scrap aluminum wheels that were delivered in my previous video have already been melted down and used to make alloy aluminum ingots for future casting production.
