From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

On this Friday the 13th, not much frightening things going on, but mother nature added to the mood with low clouds and muted sunlight around the site, creating an eerie feeling. Nonetheless, many new discoveries and areas of progress today!

In the video introduction, we discuss some new information about the Tesla Robotaxi service e rollout now expected to occur no earlier than 22 June 2025 here in Austin, Texas. I show a new video from Art Guajardo of a Robotaxi driving autonomously on city streets as part of a night testing program ahead of the official service going live for the public.

I also discuss the difference between what Robotaxi means, and hos this is a service that Tesla is rolling out that can be made up of any or all of Tesla’s vehicles that can run the full self-driving software. This is different from the Cybercab which is a product that can be used in the Robotaxi fleet and service. I decided to discuss this as some people seem to believe Robotaxi and Cybercab are synonymous, which they are not, and I hope you find this helpful!

We also have learned that another major milestone event is planned on 28 June! Tesla is going to go one step further than unveiling the Robotaxi service and plans to deliver the first new vehicle fully autonomously from the Giga Texas End-of-Line facility directly to a customer’s home! This should be fascinating to watch and is yet another major step in Tesla’s overall goal of achieving fully autonomously driving vehicles world-wide. What an amazing time to be alive to see this happening!

A few other highlights today:

On the W side, the Tesla Semi was back and in the process of getting charged up at the Megacharger. This semi has been undergoing tests in and around the factory over the past several weeks.

W side berm trenching, trench box placement and pipe installation underway this morning near the south extension, while more related trench work continued farther to the N near the flagpoles.

Transformers that have been accumulating on the far W side staging yards were on the move today, being loaded on to heavy lift trailers and then driven of site. I am not sure where these are headed or what they are being used for, but we have seen this previously, and then more transformers are delivered at a later date.

The electrical switchyard large underground vault construction was progressing today with crews installing rebar for the ground slab. This will essentially mirror the current underground vault and top mounted control tailers on the S end of the existing switchyard.

Megapack #2 perimeter fencing is nearly completed, with all poles and frames installed, while crews were busy adding the fence mesh material onto these completed frames. I suspect it will be a few more days and then the perimeter fence will be completed. Next, I anticipate a gravel type layer added around the superchargers similar to what we see in the nearby Megapack #1 installation.

Finally, at the E side of casting, we get a rare opportunity to see a Cybertruck and Cybercab front casting sitting side-by-side for a direct comparison. It is obvious how much larger the Cybertruck casting is, and the designs are notably different as well.
