The European passenger plugin vehicle market scored 244,000 registrations in January, a progression of 18% YoY. Positively, BEVs (168,000 units, +37% YoY) continued to grow despite the drop in EV incentives in certain markets. On the other hand, plugin hybrids (PHEVs) were down, dropping by 5% year over year (YoY) to some 76,000 units. BEVs started the year solidly ahead of PHEVs (69% BEVs vs 31% PHEVs). This being quite a difference from the picture a year ago (61% BEVs, 39% PHEVs).

A suspect was arrested Monday just before midnight in the attempted arson that occurred at a Tesla dealership earlier this month, the Loveland Police Department said. Several vehicles at the dealership were vandalized with graffiti, “some of which were offensive and hateful in nature,” according to Loveland PD.

The Salem Police Department is investigating an arson that occurred at a car dealership early Monday morning. At about 3:45 a.m., officers and firefighters responded to reports of a car fire at the Tesla dealership at 2755 Mission Street Southeast. Police say the fire was limited to one car.

Two Teslas were set fire on Thursday—one in an Avenyn parking garage, another in a Linnéstaden lot. Police noted that both incidents were likely arson, as there seems to be no natural explanation for the fires. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blazes out fast, which suggests that the fires did not extend to the affected Teslas’ high-voltage battery.

Baltimore County Police acknowledged a "peaceful protest" held at the dealership Saturday, but initially said they were "unaware" of any vandalism. When notified of the damage we observed, police responded to investigate. Detective Anthony Shelton later released this updated statement below, suggesting the symbol isn’t antisemitic in nature, instead considering it an ‘X’ standing for the platform formerly known as Twitter which Musk purchased.
