Despite global and California-specific sales declines, Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 still ranked first and third respectively in California’s Q1 car sales, with the Model Y far outperforming rivals like the Toyota RAV4. Tesla faces increasing competition, especially in China, but continues to offer significant incentives such as discounts and low-interest financing in both the U.S. and China. Political backlash and rising competition have impacted sales, yet Tesla remains a dominant force, especially in California where EV adoption is high.
