Tesla FSD has been so good and so controversial, we decided to put it to the ultimate test: Coast to Coast without intervention! Although we had a pretty big hiccup early in the test, Tesla has repaired our Model Y Juniper and the trip is back on!

The Tesla Model Y Juniper represents the latest and the greatest that Tesla offers in autonomy. This car is actually the same spec they use in Austin and San Francisco to operate their robotaxi fleet. With HW4 (AI4) equipped hardware, this car has been phenomenal in FSD performance on a day to day basis.

Last time you saw us, we had limped along to get to Tucson, which was the closest Tesla service center once we started having problems. Tesla has since replaced the HV battery pack of the vehicle under warranty. In addition, small repairs are required to the front suspension that I am doing myself rather than the extensive repair Tesla wanted to do.

After repairing our Tesla Model Y, it’s time to get back on the road and complete this all encompassing test of FSD Coast to Coast! Can FSD go Coast to Coast without intervention? Join @JoshWest247 and I as we seek to answer this big question!

It is extremely important to note that even in our brand new 2026 Tesla Model Y, FSD V13 is SUPERVISED, meaning the system does not allow you to operate without paying attention. In fact, if you dont pay attention, the system will prompt you to pay attention or it will disengage and lock you out until the next drive.
