Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
A beautiful morning to fly and we can see the aftereffects of heavy rains that came through the area yesterday all over and in the water detention ponds. Production seems to be strong today of both the Model Y’s and the Cybertrucks,

In the video intro today, I discuss the melt center and how this uses scrap aluminum wheels and other aluminum parts to recycle the material and prepare the aluminum to the right format for use in future castings. To do this, I refer to a Tesla Patent titled “System and method for immersion-based melting of aluminum metal and alloys” and go through some of the key features, technologies and processes it uses to make this capability possible.
Not only does this vertically integrate the recycling of materials at the factory, but by using scrap aluminum wheels and this patented process, Tesla is able to source materials at a far cheaper rate than buying ingots from third party smelters, saving material, transportation and processing costs, reducing the overall cost for production and passing these savings on to customers.
A few other noteworthy items to look for today:
At the north construction site, the new facility is being assembled quickly, now about 40% has been erected and about 25% with roof decking, all working from the south to the north. More steel was being delivered today and positioned around the footings to prepare for mew assembly.
The site clearing next to the electrical switchyard continues and is getting closer to the point where construction of the switchyard expansion can begin. On the south side, the new Megapack #2 is continuing to get wires installed to connect the megapacks to the transformers.
The crash testing facility seems to have been busy recently, with many crash-tested vehicles across Tesla’s lineup arranged near the west privacy fence, all of which had crash testing markings on them along with obvious test damage on various parts of the cars.
At the casting machine section, we see hundreds (perhaps thousands) of castings for the Cybertruck, Model Y and the Cybercab arranged in racks and some on the ground along the north, northeast and east sides of casting. Based on the huge number of racks stored on the north casting staging and handling yard, Giga Texas is preparing for a step increase in casting production, possibly to accommodate the new lower cost vehicles based on the Model 3 & Model Y or the Cybercab, or some combination therein.
On the southwest side of the main factory where the old building meets up with the new extension, crews were busy cleaning the glass panels that were under the now removed temporary loading platform and they had installed the concrete wall panel over the opening where the platform deck once was. It appeared they were also preparing mounts along the beams and frames of the windows to complete the glass installation, which will finally join the old and new parts of the factory together, both physically and aesthetically.
Finally, crews on the roof were working on solar panels around the bottom part of the ”A” in Tesla, while also installing more solar panels in a thin line underscoring the “L” and “A” of TESLA outlined by the solar panels.
