Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, Cyber Truck the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot production happens in 2025!
A nice sunrise and a big surprise today at Giga Texas as I caught a close look at the first Long Range, Rear Wheel Drive (LR RWD) Cybertrucks being produced. This is the new lower cost version of the Cybertruck that also has the longest range yet available!
In addition, a huge development on the north side as the steel erection for the new Central Campus Support Facility (aka Cortex 2.0) is well underway and moving quite rapidly! The structure appears to be a single level so far, bit there are many parts of the facility yet to be assembled, so we shall see as time goes on!

For today’s Intro, I’m doing something different in that I’m providing a few excerpts from an hour-long interview I recently had with Larry Goldberg. We cover a wide-range of topics, from my early beginnings, My desire to be an Astronaut, people I met and mentors that helped shape my path, to becoming a pilot, my deep interest in space, engineering, and some of the reasons I became interested in Tesla, ultimately bringing me to Giga Texas and flying a drone for almost 5 years.
We touch on the impact drones and AI are having on warfare and out national military strategy, and my thoughts on the importance of on-orbit refilling to grow our capabilities in this second golden age of space.
I hope you find the short clips and the full interview interesting and informative. The link to the full interview is below in the sources section of this description. Thank you to Larry Goldberg and Farzad for having me on their show and for making this a fun interview!
A few other highlights from today include:
Work on the northwest berm continues with both conduit and treated water pipe installation. We see this work expanding to the south along the top of the berm towards the flag poles where we see more crews rolling out a black mat covering over the recent trenchwork through the landscaped and gravel areas at the base of the flagpoles. I think this is related to, and will ultimately connect with, the south smaller caisson and trench work in that area by the south bridge.
More solar panels are being installed on the south end of the original building roof under the “A” of Tesla. This installation is progressing northwards now and we can see a long line of Unirac mounts being laid out by crews ahead of electrical wiring and then solar panel installation.
Conduit work along the north side of River Road near the Cyberpond continues, terminating near the “fork in the road” display on the southwest side of the Cyberpond.
Crews were busy at the Megapack #2 site today connecting each Megapack pair to a single transformer running along the center spine of the installation site. These connections are the first of many which will ultimately connect to the south end of the electrical switchyard. Counting the original Megapack installation, there are now 142 Megapacks on site here at Giga Texas!
Work to expand the electrical switchyard continues today, with crews bringing more fill dirt from the northeast of the battery cathode plant. This fill dirt is being used to both level the overall grade to allow construction, and to remove the original small water detention pond on the east side of the switchyard. Once this grade work is completed, crews can then begin the 2X expansion of the switchyard itself.
Lots more to see in the images today and of course, talk about in the main video too! I hope you have a great weekend!
