2025 Audi RS e-tron GT | A Special Kind Of Crazy

From EV Buyers Guide.

Audi’s 2025 RS e-tron GT Performance is Audi’s quickest accelerating and most powerful vehicle ever. How quick? Audi says 2.4 seconds, but I suspect that’s a pessimistic estimate, we’ll know for sure however shortly because I’m in Vegas today driving it.
So what’s new for 2025? Honestly so much that I’m surprised Audi isn’t calling it a "next generation" GT. For this year Audi has completely redesigned the batteries, inverters, rear motor, cooling system, all the motor control software and hardware and then they gave the inside and outside a thorough refresh. Yep, there’s still plenty of Porsche DNA here, and that’s not a bad thing. Like the Taycan the GT gets an 800V native pack, but the new cells make it more energy-dense, lighter, and able to charge at healthy 320 kW peak and scoot 10-80% in just 18 minutes. Want to gain range faster? A Lucud Gravity is just about the only option in N. America.
On the battery front there are some other interesting details. Audi dropped the required battery temperature to charge at the peak rate by a massive 36 degrees F. This means you don’t have to wait until the car heats the pack up to 95 degrees as before to get that 320 kW, nope, it’ll now be just fine as low as 59. This means less time heating the battery before charging in the cold and no waiting at all if you live in a temperate climate. Also, Audi has further separated the cooling loops for the cabin, battery, and motors allowing them to be heated and cooled independently from one another.
Headline horsepower? 912, but there’s a twist: technically you only get that in launch control or "boost mode" where the system unlocks 94 more horsepower for 10 seconds. Logically most of the power happens in the back with the rear motor putting out 556 HP and 435 lb-ft and the front responsible for 356 HP and 302 lb-ft. Like the Porsche Taycan, the GT uses a unique 2-speed transmission in the rear to give you insane 0-30 times and allow higher speed operation. Interestingly, the GT’s 1-2 gear shift happens before you get to 60. Think about that, 0-60 in 2.4 seconds *including* a gear shift. The only odd part is that Audi didn’t decide to shift that 2nd gear ratio up to make this as fast on the autobahn as the R8 V10 which is still the fastest Audi ever in terms of top speed. This one? It’s electronically limited to 155 while some Taycans are unlocked up to 180 MPH.
Price tag? Well, if you have to ask you probably can’t afford one… This blue GT was an eye-popping $190,190.00….
