Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Nice but warm day to fly at the factory today with blue skies. light winds but a lot of humidity. I feel for the workers doing all the construction on the site today! For this flight, I cover a lot of ground, starting on the extreme far south of the Colorado River to show the farthest Caisson and then work my way north to see the other 3 Caissons, per a request I received from a viewer. I also cover a lot of the northeast and east sides today as well!

In the video introduction, I talk about a publicized upcoming production pause that will affect all Tesla factories from 30 June to about the 4th of July, particularly here at Giga Texas. This is related not just to normal maintenance and upgrades but also preparing the Model Y line here to produce the new lower cost vehicle based on the Model Y and purportedly resembling the Model 3 and Model Y, but different as well.
Some of that work is already underway now, some has been underway for several months and the rest will be during that down period. It will be interesting to see what production ramp back up will be (including the Cybertruck production line which will also be down, likely to redirect production line employees to the new vehicle production to get it up and running similarly to what we saw earlier this year when the Model Y refresh came online.
I also talk about the launch of the Robotaxi service which is supposed to happen less than a week from today here in Austin, using a dozen or two Model Ys initially. If the launch happens and all goes well over a few weeks, we should start seeing an expansion of the number of cars in the Robotaxi fleet quickly, expanding to the Austin Metro area (which is larger than the area Waymo currently uses) and then continuing to new cities around the country. By the end of the year.
I also talk about the Cybercab production line which is also in the late3 stages of installation and testing inside Giga Texas, with initial test production scheduled to begin this summer and then ramping quickly through the rest of the year to allow a big ramp in production to scale in 2026. This is likely related to the stoppage of Cybercab drive testing around the factory several weeks ago and all the Cybercab castings on the east side of the casting section.
Finally, I discuss the work to stand up a production line at Giga Texas for the Optimus Robot, which should be ready for initial production late this year and then begin to ramp up in 2026.
There is a lot more to see in the main video today, including a drone hunt to see all four of the large caissons which are part of the water intercept system being installed along the highway, the Cortex 2.0 facility getting exterior walls and texture coatings installed and a look inside the DIE shop where we see the ground slab work appears to be completed just inside the large west loading door.
