Robotaxi, White Stain on Cortex 2, New Fence on W Side! 25 June 2025 Giga Texas Update (07:35AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Beautiful day to fly over the factory today on top of some very large and significant news items for Tesla! Three days ago, the Robotaxi service was launched in a small, conservative way in Austin, Texas for a group of early access people who could offer rides to another passenger.

In the first three days, the service seemed to work well, some teething pain. Issues that will be worked out, great data collection and experience for the Robotaxi team on how to run the operations. In addition to this, several other big milestones and upcoming events are about to happen!

In the video introduction, I discuss the Robotaxi event but also the expected first autonomous customer cart delivery from the factory to their home. This is another major test and demonstration in the confidence Tesla has with their autonomous Full Self Driving approach and will be something to watch for along with what Tesla releases publicly. Coupled with the Robotaxi service that just went public, this is a major milestone for the company.

In addition to this, we should be a few days away from the new lower cost vehicle announcement and production start. The production lines inside Giga Texas (and at the other Tesla factories) are having the final upgrades to support this new model and indeed, Giga Texas will paus production all next week to support the final work to then bring the new lines and new vehicles.

Finally, the end of the 2nd quarter will be of interest for shareholders as the production and deliveries will be looked at to see how well things are going for the company. The last few days of June are going to be some of the most consequential for the company in many years.

As for some highlights around the site today, here are a few to look for today:

A new security perimeter fence on the west side near the central highway is being installed and frankly, this is overdue and something I’ve been watching for because having free access to their completed products and transportation hub.

More glass is being installed on the south part of the main factory today, completing the last of the glass installation that has been underway for a few months.

I was able to confirm what the white items were that I saw on the east side near the parking garage on my last video. These are solar power generators for security cameras and lights and is part of Tesla’s commitment to moving towards sustainable energy, replacing all gas-powered generators from Giga Texas

Megapack #2 perimeter fence is almost completed, some final cable installation is underway and some grade work around the overall site is underway today. Just to the north, grade work was underway and water trucks at work ahead of the start of construction for the switchyard expansion.

For the first time, white stain was being applied onto the textured coating on the Cortex 2 walls, while more walls were being installed along the west, south and east sides of the facility, although the ground slab inside still has not begun construction.
