Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Today the site was greeting by another beautiful sunrise, with vivid yellows and oranges painting the skies & the small number of clouds. This really helped set the stage for a fast start to a busy week here at Giga Texas!

In the video description, I talk about some more FSD testing on the roof of the parking garage using a Model Y with LiDAR sensors and racking systems. It appeared that this test was focused on avoiding smaller items (in this case a bucket) while backing in or approaching via a turn from the front. The Model Y would do this test, then drive in a racetrack pattern on the roof to reposition the car and then do the test again.
I also discuss the upcoming Starship Flight 10 (currently targeting NET 24 August 2025, this Sunday) and if this schedule holds, I plan on heading down to Starbase on Friday, 22 August, which would mean my last flight of the week at Giga Texas would likely be Wednesday. On the way to Starbase, I do plan on stopping at the Tesla Lithium Plant and doing a new drone flight and video so we all can be updated on the progress.
A few highlights to look for in the main video include:
Production is gearing back up for the week after most of the vehicle inventory was moved off site over the weekend. On the north outbound lot, we see many Cybertrucks have been grouped together in 4 long rows, while Model Ys were beginning to emerge from the factory and autonomously drive themselves over to the End-of-Line facility for final processing.
On the southwest staging yard, many more trucks were arriving with large production line equipment shipments, most covered in green tarps, but some in wooden crates and others in silver mylar-like material. Two very large crates were delivered to the site today, directly moving to the W side of the factory where they were connected to a crane and immediately lifted onto the 3rd floor loading platform for movement inside.
At the south end, crews were continuing work to add lighting at the “Fork” statue, more conduit along the north side of River Road, and large trenches, with trench boxes on the south side of River Road. This is happening near where crews were working on pipe installation.
On the west side of the highway at the large caisson site, crews were assembling the new smaller tunnel boring machine (TBM), preparing for it to be lifted into the caisson and begin tunneling under SH-130 (the main highway) to connect to the smaller caisson on the east side of the highway.
At the southwest stating yard, once again many trucks were arriving with production line equipment that is unloaded and staged until later on yard trucks arrive and then move the items to the factory or installation.
The electrical switchyard underground vault work installing forms and rebar for the concrete roof pour which may happen by the end of this week. The connecting conduit tunnel has had yellow frames installed inside along the walls.
Cortex 2.0 facility work is also moving along, with roofing material nearly completed on the southern quarter of the roof and more materials have been prepositioned on the second quarter of the roof, working to the north.
Possibly related to Cortex 2.0, there were 10 new large green transformers arriving on site today, and these were being temporarily staged on the east side of the cathode plant near the cell testing lab.
