Automation Delivery, Crash Testing, Start of 5-day Prod Week. 8 Sep 2025 Giga Texas Update (07:55AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Nice morning to fly around the site today shows a lot of activity with both production and construction work!

The start of a rare 5-day production work week shows the weekend has heavy transport truck movement of new vehicles off site. Both are really great signs for the company and for a big delivery quarter!

In the video introduction, I discuss the production that was underway at the factory on Saturday, and the upcoming 5-day production work week, some of the driving reasons for this, and I show some short drone video I did to document this work, Also, we discuss the operation and first customer deliveries at the new Direct Delivery Center on the north end of the EOL facility. This should be a recurring event now, and I think we will see a massive direct delivery event here by the end of this quarter. I also think this option for direct delivery will prove very popular with customers.

On a person schedule note, I discuss my upcoming trip to Florida this Friday for the Florida Tesla Owners Group Teslacon event. I’ll be speaking about Giga Texas and doing several round tables along with participating in several interesting events they will be offering. The event itself is in Orlando at the Margaritaville Resort, which should be fantastic!

A few highlights from today’s drone flight to look for include:

Lots of Tesla Automation deliveries today in big wooden crates, with some at the west side platform where the 4680 and structural pack assembly takes place, but also on the east side and a few at the far southwest staging yard. This continues many such deliveries over the past few weeks.

Related to that, an important observation is that most of the production line equipment that arrived and was being staged on the far southwest yard has now been moved into the factory for installation and the staging yard is mostly empty now. Along with this, only one large stamping press item remains that is destined for Giga Nevada for Semi Truck production, and the nearby crane suggests this will be moved soon.

At the north end, crews are making rebar cages for piers that will support footings for the electrical switchyard expansion, while other crews are working on rebar of the second large transformer base and catch basin.

Megapack #2 appears to have virtually all conduit and cabling installed and the central cable trays have all of the top plates installed. Other than final connections and testing, a gravel mix spread on the surface seems to be all that is left before it could be activated. I’m not sure what the actual timelines are for this to happen.

The Cortex 2 facility continues to have work on the exterior walls, with most of the north end nearly ready for the white stain, while the rest of the walls, except for receiving and personnel door, now completed. Roofing installation continues today, now nearly finishing the first half of the roof, working from the south to the north. Inside, visible trenching is underway and utility pipe installation continues.

The crash testing facility had at least three vehicles inside either getting ready for or doing inspections after more crash testing.

Finally, on the south end, caisson tunnelling work continues to connect the two Caissons on either side of the main highway. While crews were busy pressing in concrete pipe segments into the tunnel bore in the larger caisson, the smaller (destination) caisson was filled with water.
