8 Cybercab Crash Testing, 2026 Discussion, Cortex 2 Conduits! 24 Oct 2025 Giga Texas Update(07:55AM)

From Joe Tegtmeyer.

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Low clouds early today, but good day to fly and see what is going on just after the 3rd Quarter Financial Results meeting where we learned a lot about what to expect at Giga Texas (and Tesla worldwide) in 2026.

In the introduction, I go over several key new details about what Tesla is planning and how this will directly affect Giga Texas as 2025 comes to an end and well into 2026!

The first of these is FSD V14 and the implications this has for Robotaxi and what we can expect in Austin and up to 10 new metro areas in 5 states by the end of the year. V14 allows the Robotaxi fleet to scale, will allow safety monitors to be removed in most areas of Austin and then in the other metro areas after a few months of testing with safety monitors.

Another big reason V14 is so important is this now gives Tesla full confident to achieve unsupervised autonomy which was something they were waiting for before ramping up production. This means we should begin seeing more utilization of the installed production capacity which in turn means we should be seeing many more vehicles (especially Model Y’s) filling up the outbound lot over the next few months and into 2026. This will be easy to observe via my drone flights.

Cortex 1 has also expended to support V14 development, now reaching 81,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs, which is up from about 50,000 and almost to the target of 100,000. IN addition to this, Cortex 2 construction continues quickly, which when completed and in conjunction with the upgraded electrical infrastructure will greatly add to the overall FSD training capabilities Tesla has.

We found out the Cybercab production is now expected to start in the 2nd quarter of 2026 (unsure if this is the beginning to the end of the quarter), and this means we probably have a few more months of assembly line work, testing, hiring and training of employees, along with more pre-production test vehicles around the factory, more crash testing & casting production before we will see the line ready to begin initial production of the finished design. I expect the ramp to proceed throughout 2026 and begin to hit the big numbers expected in 2027.

Finally, we found out the Optimus Robot unveiling was pushed into the 1st Quarter of 2026 and production at the end of 2026. Production line installation is beginning, and I assume this is still planned for Giga Texas, even in the early stages. We need to keep watch out for production equipment arriving, job postings, and related material deliveries sometime in the spring of 2026.

Lots more to see today including massive progress at the electrical switchyard expansion, conduits installation connecting Cortex 2 and Cybercab crash testing and other engineering analysis at the crash test facility.
