Have you STILL not heard of BYD? The Chinese EV giant plans to sell more cars in the UK this year than MINI and Renault – twice as many as Mazda. And at the heart of that push is this: the BYD Atto 2.

No daft marine names here –just an Atto number. It’s arriving in the UK this summer, ready to take on the new Vauxhall Frontera and MG ZS. But does it have what it takes? Or is it just another budget EV with big promises?

⚡ 174bhp motor with 194-mile range

⚡ 37 min 10-80% charging with 65kW rapid charging

⚡ Rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen, karaoke mode & smart voice control

⚡ V2L, phone key sharing, and a heat pump as standard

And what about the price? That’s the key to whether BYD can really shake up the market. Get it right, and brands like Mazda, Vauxhall, and MG should be worried.
