This is the all-new Jaecoo 5!
It’s fair to say the UK has had a bit of an influx of Chinese SUVs hitting our streets in 2025, but on looks alone, we think the Jaecoo 5 may be one of the best new entrants we’ve seen all year!
It’s available as either an ICE or EV, but is it just style over substance? Or should you settle for a more established brand for your next SUV? Let’s take a closer look…
Starting with the exterior design, the Jaecoo is giving us serious Range Rover vibes. We’ve got our hands on the range-topping edition, which means it’s an EV without a grille at the front. It looks seriously sleek and smart, especially in this green paint job! Walk along the side, and you’d be forgiven for mistaking the Jaecoo 5 for a Range Rover Evoque! It’s a similar story around the back, with one feature once again borrowed from Range Rover – the rear windscreen wiper being hidden at the top of the rear window.
Step inside, and the Jaecoo 5 has a very premium-feeling interior. There are soft-touch materials across the dash and high up on the doors, and sitting in the centre of the dash is a huge vertical screen. The infotainment system comes with loads of customisation, while also having the option to wirelessly connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s a small, customisable digital driver display, and the range-topping version we have here also comes with leatherette on the seats!
The entry-level Jaecoo 5 is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo petrol that delivers 147hp. The range-topping edition we have here is an EV, which is equipped with a 61kWh battery that’s good for a range of up to 248 miles. It’s also equipped with a single electric motor, which produces 204hp.
The Jaecoo 5 has a starting price of only £24,505, while the range-topping car we have here is only £30,505! So what do you think – is the Jaecoo 5 one of the best-value cars available today? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!
