Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Windy & cool autumn day but big news in the Tesla world and here at the factory. Lots of talk if the Cybercab will have a steering wheel or not based on Board Chair Robyn Denholm’s recent comments and the Robotaxi service area expands again in Austin.
Lots of big developments on the site, from Caissons, to expanding clearings, equipment deliveries, bollard installation at the west main entrance, electrical switchyard progress, and big changes at the Cortex 2 facilities.

In the video introduction, we discuss recent comments by the Tesla Board Chair Robyn Denhoim during interviews at the Nasdaq Headquarters in Times Square concerning the Cybercab. In this interview, she said that if required, Tesla can build Cybercabs with a steering wheel and pedals.
This was in reference to regulatory requirements and ramping production. Whether or not this means a consumer version will be sold with a steering wheel and pedal is still unknown or at least uncertain, but this has lit the Tesla community. On fire with lots of speculation on either side of the argument. Something to watch.
Another big development in the news was the further expansion of the Austin Robotaxi service area, nearly doubling the previous service area. We do not know if the vehicle fleet size has been extended (it needs to be) or if more public access to the Robotaxi app have been made (also needed). This is likely another step on the way to a bigger announcement of new metro areas and up to 5 new states to the Robotaxi service by the end of the year.
