Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
I was able to fly today ahead of the heavy rains expected the rest of the week, so this is likely my last Giga Texas video this week. Also, next week is Thanksgiving so my schedule will be a bit different coming up and then after next week, back to more or less normal.
For today I started out the flight from the far northeast of the site where two big changes are underway. First, the removal of all equipment, materials and broken up concrete sections is almost completed, and this is in preparation for construction of the new Harold Green Road.
Second, I noted the continuation of soil sampling test rigs at work to collect samples of the underlying ground materials that will be used by civil engineers to determine what will be needed to support future construction through these fields, either for the new road or perhaps for new construction related to the factory. In either case, this is an interesting development that is worth watching over time.

In the video introduction, I talk about the soil sample testing and also the continues clearing and reconfiguration work on the east side of the site to prepare for the new Optimus factory construction sometime in 2026.
Perhaps the more exciting and nearer-term updates has to do with the Tesla Robotaxi fleet. Preparations are well underway to prepare for a large expansion of the service, including the recent opening up access to all iOS devices with the Tesla Robotaxi app, eliminating waitlists. We also know Tesla intends to add 500 cars to the Austin Robotaxi Fleet without monitors in most cases, and this will help address the increased demand by new people with access and allow for more service area expansion.
In the Bay Area, Tesla is preparing for 1,000 new vehicles added to the fleet and beyond this, three more states and around 10 new metro areas. All of this is expected by the end of this year, and then further expansion in 2026.
A few other highlights include:
Because of the cloud cover and lighting, I was able to provide some good interior views of Cortex 2 today, showing many new interior details and seeing some equipment inside for the first time. I was able to show views into the west hallway which may be the last time for these views as exterior walls are being completed, which will greatly restrict the views once completed.
On the outside, more work on large walls on heavy foundations on the east side, along with finishing of trenching and conduit along the middle of the facility on the east side. On the west side, the screw-type pier installation continues, moving to the north from the south and with electrical conduit risers and asphalt has been laid down.
Along the east side of the main factory near the casting section, I saw another grouping of three different types of Cybercab castings on the ground along the exterior wall. In addition, more racks with Cybercab, Model Y and Cybertruck castings were observed along the east, northeast and north sides of the factory and in the casting handling lot.
