From Joe Tegtmeyer.
Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
I spent the day in Austin giving 18 Robotaxi rides to several people, including Eric who came in from the United Kingdom, Dom from Salt Lake City and his friend Alvero, Dyland from Dallas and Adestoop from Austin.
My total of Robotaxi ride snow stands at 99, but I will be back in Austin on Friday, 11 July giving a few more rides to people coming in from out of town. Of course, this is just ahead of the announced expansion of the Geofenced area for Tesla, the first expansion of the program and less than 3 weeks since the initial rollout on 22 June.

In the video introduction, I discuss the robotaxi rides I did today along with the announced expansion of the geofenced service that will more than double the current area. One thing I am looking forward to see is how they do the expansion, including the increase in number of cars, how they will handle the safety observers and if they continue to expand the number of people with the app to take rides.
I do also have information about the new geofenced location, and I show this new map … it is definitely one to create a lot of comments because of the shape Tesla has chosen!
I also talk about the announcement for the annual shareholders meeting which is now planned for 6 November 2025. This date is significantly delayed compared to all previous times and many are speculating this might be related to a new compensation plan for Elon. It is also possible Tesla is holding this meeting so late in the year to try and get resolution to the appeal to the Delaware Supreme Court concerning Elon’s 2018 compensation package.
The 2nd quarter financial results meeting is coming up on the 23rd of July, and I hope we will gain a lot more information and insight from Tesla regarding the new lower cost vehicle, the status of the robotaxi service, Cybercab production, Optimus production and Grok integration into Tesla vehicles, to name a few big items. I do hope Tesla uses this occasion to give us this kind of information and insights.
Finally, I remind viewers of the upcoming X Takeover event in San Francisco and my plans to travel there and speak about SpaceX Mars plans and a possible way they might be able to salvage a mission to Mars late next year coinciding with the Mars transit window. It will be extremely tight and most likely not possible, but there is a way SpaceX could pursue this goal and still launch towards Mars despite the current setbacks to the Starship program.
Around Giga Texas this afternoon, we see production has been going very well the later part of this week, with may Model Ys in the outbound lot and most of the Cybertrucks that were present during my video yesterday now gone.
Again, there are no signs about a lower cost vehicle, even though we are past the stated 1st half production start target Tesla provided guidance for in the past two financial results meetings, but this could be in reaction to changes in the political realm and the expiration of EV rebates coming up at the end of the 3rd quarter. I hope we get clarity on this soon by Tesla, perhaps at the upcoming 23 July Financial results meeting.
At the north side, we see active concrete pours at the new underground vault for the electrical switchyard expansion. More walls nave been completed on the new Cortex 2 facility and stairs were being lifter up into the 3rd floor, west side of where the battery structural packs are manufactured, most likely to allow personnel access to a new mezzanine level recently added to this part of the main factory.
