The Tesla Cybertruck launched with so many great possibilities, and as a do all utility vehicle, there was a lot on peoples minds on how they would use this next generation truck. Having already experienced Camp Mode in Tesla’s other vehicles like the Model Y and Model 3, there was no doubt that people were excited to camp in the "vault" or the bed of the Cybertruck.
Unfortunately once the Cybertruck did launch, we discovered that the rear window does not roll down, it does not come out, and the mid-gate we have seen on other EV Trucks like the SilveradoEV would not be making its way to the Cybertruck.
This presents a unique challenge not found in Teslas other vehicles. In the Model Y and Model 3, it’s easy enough to add a mattress, turn on camp mode, and sleep in safety and comfort right in your own vehicle. The same is the case for the Model S and Model X for that matter. Unfortunately unlike the other Tesla models, the Cybertruck has no way of getting the HVAC to the bed of the truck, at least until now.
Campstream, a company that has developed an ingenious solution to this Cybertruck problem, has already developed and sells a solution for the Model 3 and the Rivian R1S and R1T. They have developed a system that attaches to the vents in your Tesla, pipes that air out the window and into a tent. This was originally designed with rooftop tents in mind, but this actually works for Tents placed on the ground next to the vehicle as well.
What this does is allow you to have heat in the winter, A/C in the summer and sleep in comfort in your tent. On the Cybertruck, both my rooftop tent and the Cybertent easily accommodate this system and truly add functionality to the trucks utility features.
