Tesla Semi Efficiency Improves in Real-World Trucking Test. Look How Much The Semi Covered in 3 Wks

From Torque News.

The Tesla Semi, Tesla’s electric Class 8 semi-truck, saw its efficiency improve in a new real-world trucking test covering 4,494 miles over three weeks. I mean it’s Nice to hear that Tesla may eventually provide some competition to the electric semi leaders, Volvo, Mercedes, and Scania, But the question is, when will be the next update on Tesla Semi? In a long time?

A new real-world trucking test by logistics company ArcBest shows significant efficiency improvements. This Tesla Class 8 semi-truck covered an impressive 4,494 miles in just three weeks, averaging an impressive 1.55 kWh per mile!

This is a major step forward for the Tesla Semi, which has faced years of delays. While Volvo electric trucks, Mercedes electric trucks, and Scania electric trucks have been leading the way, Tesla’s latest performance in real-world operations, including demanding routes over Donner Pass, suggests it’s becoming a serious contender.

What does 1.55 kWh/mile mean for electric trucking? It’s a highly efficient number, especially considering the varied operations, from lane dispatch to regional runs, that ArcBest put the Semi through. This new data significantly improves on previous reported figures, getting closer to Elon Musk’s initial claims for Tesla Semi efficiency.

With Tesla Semi production finally expected to ramp up at the new Nevada factory by the end of 2025, and customer deliveries starting next year, this improved performance is crucial.
