From Transport Evolved.
*Mandatory Disclaimer*:
Transport Evolved was invited by General Motors (Chevrolet) to attend the reveal of the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV at NBC Universal’s Back Lot in Los Angeles. General Motors covered our accommodation and meal costs in Los Angeles, as well as hotel stopover costs in Sacramento during our trips to and from Portland, Oregon in order to facilitate us bringing you this first-person report. YouTube requires this video to be marked as “sponsored” due to this arrangement. However, while GM assisted with accommodation and meals, Transport Evolved retained full editorial and production control, and GM did not review the video prior to its official release.

We’ve always been big fans of the original Chevrolet Bolt EV here at Transport Evolved. Nikki has owned two—her own 2017 Bolt EV LT and more recently her wife’s 2017 Bolt EV Premiere—while our videographer Vi drives a 2019 Bolt EV LT. So when Chevrolet ended production of the original Bolt EV (and its sibling, the Bolt EUV) in 2023, we have to admit we were a little sad.
After persistent calls from fans to bring the Bolt EV nameplate back, GM has listened—but with a twist. The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV borrows the metalwork from the previous-generation Bolt EUV, but underneath it’s all-new: new battery pack, motor, drivetrain, power electronics, and more. And for the first time, we’ve had a sneak peek and a drive.
Here’s what we learned at the official 2027 Bolt EV reveal: what we think of it, why we’re disappointed that Android Auto and Apple CarPlay won’t be offered, and why we’re frustrated that it’s being marketed as a “limited production vehicle.”
