When Can EV Drivers Use ADA Charging Stalls?

From News Coulomb.

I wanted to do a quick discussion about when it is acceptable and appropriate for EV drivers to use ADA compliant charging stalls, and frankly, I think people are overthinking it. Broadly, these charging stalls are considered "dual use," which means that only one of the criteria needs to be met in order for them to be used. In other words, the stall may be used either by a vehicle that is allowed to use an ADA stall or by an EV that is actively charging.

With that said, in my opinion, it is primarily a courtesy issue, with the signage itself emphasizing that those stalls should be used last. For EV drivers, the stall should be seen as an option for charging, but only if all other stalls are occupied or unavailable. For ADA drivers, the stall should be seen as an option, but only if all other ADA stalls at the location are occupied or unavailable.

The only drivers who should prioritize using these ADA compliant charging stalls are EV drivers with ADA licensed/placard vehicle who need to use the charger.
