The CR-V Trailsport is a looks-rugged "off-road" placeholder while Honda works on a more rugged next-generation model. It’s the automotive equivalent of turning up at the BBQ in a Patagonia puffer; it screams, "I might think about looking into climbing the Andes one day." So in that respect, it’s not the same level as a Forester Wilderness whose owner will probably at least know where Patagonia is on the map, but mountain bikes at the state park instead. Still, there’s a great deal to love about the CR-V, including the handsome looks and solid reliability in the hybrid model, but is it enough to get you to buy it over a RAV? Hmm.
