From InsideEVs.
The 2027 Kia EV3 made its U.S. debut at the New York International Auto Show, with sales set to begin in late 2026.
The subcompact electric crossover will get two battery configurations: a 58.3 kilowatt-hour pack with up to 220 miles of range, and an 81.4-kWh long-range pack good for up to 320 miles, according to Kia. The small pack will charge from 10-80% in 29 minutes and the larger pack will do the same in 31 minutes.
We checked the EV3 out at the auto show, and were impressed by its attractive design and great packaging. It looks like a baby EV9, with a boxy design and smooth bodywork.
It comes standard with vehicle-to-load (V2L) bidirectional charging, a NACS charging port for Tesla Supercharger access, two 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a panoramic roof. All-wheel drive is available on higher trims, with output ranging from 201 hp to 288 hp in GT guise.
Depending on how Kia prices it, it will compete with the likes of the Toyota bZ, C-HR, Chevy Bolt, and Nissan Leaf among others. Some uncertainties remain around its production location and how Kia plans to navigate U.S. tariffs. But if it arrives at the correct price, it could outsell its bigger siblings and help the automaker regain its mojo in the EV market.
