From Alex on Autos.
There are updates, refreshes, and complete transformations but only the last descriptor covers the 2027 Toyota Highlander. We knew something was going to have to change when the Grand Highlander landed (but also took off) and it seems like the future is BEV for Toyota’s popular people mover. It rides on a new frame ,as one could imagine, but when it comes to some of the other numbers things get a little confusing. You’ll be able to get a FWD or AWD variant but it seems to be using the same 221 hp and 338hp offerings that you find in a Toyota bz. This is strange considering the bz Woodland exists and has a 375hp AWD setup but that will remain the highest performing model within this larger BEV family. Battery sizes of 77 kwh and ~95kwh are linked with trims (XLE and Limited) though you can extend the range of your AWD XLE if you’d like. Max range comes in with a rating of 320 miles with the lowest end being about 270. The new Highlander goes into production near the end of this year so it could be ready by Toyotathon and if not, shortly behind it.
