Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
After a week away at the Chattanooga Charge event in Tennessee, I’m back to catch us all up on what is going on at the factory & today did not disappoint! Massive construction projects well underway & directly related to the Terafab announcement, Optimus & Test tracks! I’d say the level of construction here is approaching what we say almost 6 years ago with the initial prep for the main factory!

In the video introduction, I recap my trip to the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville Alabama, and a look at the US Space Camp, which is getting a much needed $25 million, 50,000 Square Foot + addition in the form of the Inspiration 4 Training Facility funded by Jared Isaaccman.
I also talk briefly about the Chattanooga Charge event in Tennessee and all the great activities, speakers, demonstrations, fun kid events, the light show and the Cybertruck offroad adventure. This was the first big Tesla event of the year and kicks off many more world-wide coming up later this spring and into the summer. I mention that I will be headed to Europe for the Takeover Event in Austria, and I’m looking forward to that!
Over the weekend, we all heard the announcement by Elon Musk about the new Advanced Technology Fab that will be built here at Giga Texas as the first step towards a future truly massive Terafab that will be building chips that will power Tesla AI, Vehicles, Optimus robots a future AI Orbital Datacenter!
This new Advanced Technology Fab will be ~2 million Sq Ft, which is about 1/5th that of the main factory, but the future Terafab will be over 100 million Sq Ft, or over 10X larger than the main factory here! What an amazing construction project all this will be to watch come to life!
Another major construction project at Tesla Giga Texas today is the new test track on the far SW of the property! A large “oval” like outer track with what looks like a smaller oval track is taking shape, and of course there will be support structures and more added as this project continues to make progress.
While the new Advanced Technology Fab may give Optimus a brain & Cortex 2 may give Optimus his thoughts & intelligence, but he needs a body too, & massive progress is now underway on the graded foundation for the 10M/yr production facility here at Giga Texas!
Overall, the amount of construction around the Giga Texas project is approaching the original effort to make the main factory almost 6 years ago!
Besides vehicles, batteries, castings, AI, Robotaxi’s, Robots & more, Tesla certainly knows how to do truly massive construction projects! It’s hard to keep track of it all, but I’m trying! Such an amazing story that has been & continues to happen here just east of Austin!
