Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
The rains & fog lifted enough for a drone flight at Giga Texas this late morning, so I was able to get some good updates on progress around the site.
Today, I saw only about a dozen Cybercabs around the site, the bulk of which were at the W outbound lot and End-of-Line facility, although I did see at least one exiting the highway and onto the Giga Texas property today.
Remember later this afternoon is the Tesla 1st Qtr Financial Results meeting, so hopefully we will get some additional details on how Cybercab production is coming along & deployment plans.

More progress preparing the construction site for the new Tesla – SpaceX – XAI Advanced Technology Chip Fab facility, with additional clearing of the site of materials, trailers & vehicles, removal of vegetation & demolition of the old concrete maintenance facility.
Of note, 6 soil testing drilling rigs were active in this area today, which is an important part of designing & supporting the foundation slab, and the fact there are 6 working at once indicates this is taking on a high priority.
The River Road extension work also is well underway through the east part of this new site, along with a large water retention pond on the southeast corner.
On the far north end of the Giga Texas site, more foundation work & Geopier construction is underway along with the 1st footings being installed. A large excavation in the middle of the foundation lined with crushed concrete and/or gravel is also continuing to take shape.
Many more rebar cages for footings have been constructed, so we will see this work progressing rather quickly over the next several weeks. The speed that this is progressing indicates a high priority effort to get the structure to a point where steel column & beam assembly can begin.
On the south of the site, a very large mound of soil has been deposited, likely from all the excavation work in and around the foundation.
The Giga Texas test track progress has been slowed by the heavy rains over the past 4 or 5 days, but some progress continues with delivery of steel corrugated storm water pipe for drainage improvements (as you can see, that will be very helpful) and some excavation work to begin the process of installing the pipes.
