CATL just unveiled the Qilin Condensed Electrolyte Battery — and it changes everything we thought we knew about solid-state.
Most of the EV world has been waiting on solid-state batteries to deliver the trifecta: higher energy density, better safety, and mass manufacturability. CATL took a different road. Instead of a brittle ceramic electrolyte, they built a *condensed* one — a polymer gel that flows like a liquid during assembly and locks into place once the cell is sealed. The result: 350 Wh/kg gravimetric and a record-breaking 760 Wh/L volumetric density — in a cell that can already be mass-produced.

If anyone is going to get this technology onto the street at gigawatt-hour scale, it’s CATL. Mass production is coming this year.
