This is the all-new MG S9, and it might just be the best value car you can buy in 2026!
It’s a plug-in hybrid 7-seater, so Mat’s going to see if this budget-option MG has what it takes to compare with some of the most popular three-row SUVs around, such as the Chery Tiggo 8, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Peugeot 5008!
Starting with the design, there’s no denying that it looks anything like a budget option! There’s a large & wide grille up the front that gives the car presence on the road. Along the side there’s elements of chrome trim to help the car standout, and around the back there’s a wraparound taillight (and unfortunately, a set of incredible fake exhaust tips). The car is rather large, too, being 5 metres in length and 2 metres wide!
This length means there is ample room for people in the back, whether they’re in the middle or the back row of seats! Up front, there are some soft touch materials throughout the cabin, although you don’t have to look too far to find plastic elements dotted throughout. The infotainment system is ok, even if it’s a little dark, and the digital dials screen offers key driving information but little else. Thankfully, though, there are physical buttons for the climate control, there’s ample storage throughout, and the range topper edition like we have here comes with a Bose Sound System and faux leather seats!
The MG S9 comes equipped with a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid engine that is good for 300hp. It also has the ability to drive for up to 62 miles on electric power alone.
