Driving my F-150 Lightning from Delray Beach, FL back to Charlotte, NC in about 36 hours while testing how viable it is to road trip without relying on Tesla Superchargers. This run hits Mercedes Charging Hubs, IONNA, ChargePoint/Mercedes sites, Circle K ABB units, and even a free hotel Tesla Wall Connector overnight.
Along the way: I compare real-world pricing between Tesla, Electrify America, and Mercedes; tour multiple co-located charging sites; and then the trip gets spicy when the truck reports energy remaining but I’m stuck at 0% / can’t move—a classic “don’t trust the BMS under 5%” moment. We finish with a stop at the Mercedes-Benz USA HQ site in Sandy Springs (one of the nicest charging experiences I’ve ever had) and wrap with final stats + lessons learned.
