Description:
Today I take a detailed look at DC fast charging performance of the Mini Cooper E with its 36.6 kWh battery. Mini claims up to 75 kW peak charging power, so I tested it on an Ionity HPC charger, starting from a very low 3% state of charge and charging up to 80%.
We analyze the full charging curve, real-world charging power, and charging time, and I compare the Mini Cooper E to other electric cars with a similar battery size, including:
Fiat 500e
BMW i3 / i3s
Hyundai Ioniq
You’ll see where the Mini performs well, where it falls behind, and how realistic it is for longer trips despite being a small city EV.
