the new Model Y Standard. For the first time, you can get a Model Y for under $40,000 / €40,000, but to reach that price, Tesla had to make some serious cuts. In today’s video, we find out if this is the bargain of 2026 or if they’ve stripped away too much of the Tesla experience.

The changes are obvious from the first glance: the signature light bars are gone, replaced by a simpler, cleaner design. But the real surprises are inside. We’ve lost the vegan leather for a cloth/vegan-leather mix, and the panoramic glass roof is now hidden behind a permanent fabric headliner.

For 39,990, you still get the best software in the business and access to the Supercharger network. Is that enough to beat the cheaper competition from Hyundai and Kia?
