Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cybertruck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cortex 1 & 2, Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!
Cool and cloudy morning to fly and we see a rare Friday of production underway along with plenty of construction and preparations to move materials, equipment, workshops and contractor trailers around to prepare for some major new construction project slater this year.

In the video introduction, I talk about a new development announced by Telsa last night that may or may not be around for very long. Specifically, we talk about a new Standard Cybertruck AWD announced at $59,990, but perhaps only until the end of this month.
This new variant seems to take some of the ideas and parts from the discontinued long-range RWD version introduced in the spring of 2025, but with more equipment like the electric tonneau cover, outlets in the truck bed, AWD and rear wheel steering.
At this price point, and if this vehicle is available beyond the 10-day introductory period announced a few hours after the initial announcement was made, this is a great value and may sell very well. Time will tell.
I also show where in the factory the Cybercab un-boxed production area is located, using the image Tesla released of the Cybercab team celebrating the 1st production Cybercab, the column Y65 address, my Giga Texas grid map and exterior images showing the exit point.
A few other highlights today:
Cortex 2 construction is making fast progress, with the temporary cooling units being connected to large cooling pipes and manifolds entering into the south end of the facility, the 5th and 6th fan unit enclosures being assembled at part 1 of the chiller plant, more asphalt paving around the east and north ends of the facility and work on the west side to prepare to install more transformers, electrical cabinets and Megapacks.
Around the main property, crews continued wide-scale land clearing and moving of equipment, offices, and materials around to new locations to prepare for some major new construction later in the year.
The new ATD (crash test dummy) lab steel structure erection was well underway on the south end of the Crash Testing facility today. This seems to be a standard steel structure with metal wall and roof panels and some receiving doors.
I noticed Cybercab production vehicles at crash testing and these appear to be production versions (we see inventory stickers on the tires, and I could not discern a steering wheel in any of the three vehicles) and I could see seat belts latched with the check strap pulled across both front seats.
These Cybercabs may be production versions being prepared for crash testing too validated the production cars & the line as each had towing straps on the front bumpers that are very similar to what is used to attach vehicles to the tow cable in the crash testing facility to perform tests.
In the image of the Cybercab team celebrating the first production Cybercab provided by Tesla earlier this week, on the top level visible among some of the employees were front and rear Cybercab wheels. What is important to note is that the wheels on the vehicles at the crash testing facility appear to be identical to those used in the production area, so these may truly be the final wheel designs, just without the wheel covers installed.
